Responsibilities

Wright Heerema Architects is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead the business development and marketing activities of our growing design practice.  This is a unique opportunity for a qualified candidate to utilize their talents in a dynamic and creative work environment and participate in the business growth of significant architecture and interior design office projects.  
  • Lead business development activities to grow and expand the existing successful commercial architecture and interior design practice, with special emphasis on Chicago workplace interior design projects
  • Actively network with prospects such as commercial real estate brokers and program managers, corporate real estate executives and commercial property owners
  • Consistently and successfully own the leads management process of multiple opportunities from lead identification, relationship building, through successful acquisitions of projects
  • Maintain up-to-date firm contact list (clients, prospects and vendors)
  • Work with principals of the firm in the creation and execution of Business Development Strategic Plans
  • Lead and continuously streamline the delivery of project proposals in response to client RFPs and other business development activities
  • Provide exceptional responsiveness of high-quality marketing deliverables
  • Create and implement public relation and communications activities such as periodic issuance of press releases and website updates
  • Represent the firm at industry events
  • Manage the activities of Marketing Coordinator

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Architecture, Interior Design or related discipline
  • 5+ years of professional experience in business development of interior design and architecture within the office design community in the Chicagoland area
  • Extensive experience and positive relationships within the Chicago business, real estate, architecture and interior design communities
  • Developed relationships and ability to reach out directly to end users to ensure early introduction to prospective projects
  • Active in Chicago design industry and commercial real estate organizations and events
  • Positive, out-going, energetic and fun team player
  • Experience in managing support staff
  • Passion for client-centered design
  • Established success at securing new business through business development activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Exceptional graphic communication skills
  • Proficiency required in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint, Word, Excel
  • Proficiency desired in InFocus Marketing Module or similar Business Development Tracking Software
