Chicago-based architecture and interior design firm Wright Heerema Architects (WHA) is celebrating 30 years in business, marking three decades of continuous, privately held practice in a competitive and evolving industry.
Founded in 1996, Wright Heerema Architects has completed more than 2,500 projects nationwide, with a strong concentration in workplace interiors and repositioning projects. The firm has built two decades of deep expertise in pharmaceutical facilities, with cannabis cultivation and processing facilities becoming a more recent and growing area of work within its portfolio.
“We’re deeply grateful for the trust our clients have placed in us over the years,” said Stephen T. Wright, founder and principal of WHA. “Many of those relationships have grown and evolved alongside our firm, and that collaboration has shaped how we work and what we deliver.”
The firm’s recent lobby and amenity lounge design at 225 W. Washington received an Interior Design Office Award from the 2024 Illinois Real Estate Journal Commercial Real Estate Awards. In January 2026, WHA will complete a new 85,000 square foot, three-story, ground-up office and laboratory facility for Motorola Solutions in Plantation, Florida, in partnership with developer Torburn Partners and contractor Brasfield & Gorrie.
As WHA enters its fourth decade, the firm remains focused on supporting long-term client relationships while welcoming new partnerships across a range of industry sectors, working alongside organizations as their goals and needs evolve.
